When I first stepped onto this path of spiritual empowerment & progression with the Empower Thyself Class & Initiation, my Guide told me something - something that for the next 3 1/2 years I would try and prove wrong. She told me that there were three legs to the stool for supporting myself daily through this process of awakening and spiritual growth: (1) ritual - performing the ancient rituals as handed-down over the millennia; (2) prayer - giving thanks to God, the Hierarchy, and my guides & guardians for the many blessings in my life & asking for any special requests; and, (3) meditation - learning to quiet the mind and work with my higher self in the Sanctuary (see Sanctuary Meditation Technique).
Now, I'm not exactly what you would call a "rule-follower." Okay, I'm not flagrantly breaking rules just for the sake of being a rule-breaker, but I also like to test boundaries. Further, I do not enjoy being told what to do. In fact, if you ask my mother, I will generally do exactly the opposite of what I am told to do, if only to learn the hard way why I was asked to not do that thing in the first place. That being said, when I was told that it is highly suggested to spend 2 hours a day in meditation I thought to myself - NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! I mean, what would I possibly do in 2 hours of mediation? Let alone, when would I have the time to meditate that long even if I wanted to?
So, I proceeded to think that the whole three-legged stool only applied to other people, and that I was somehow special and could get by with the occasional Max Meditation System TM class, or meditation time during other lineage classes. If I am being honest, I probably meditated 12-16 hours over 3 & 1/2 years.
Let me be clear, I DO NOT recommend this strategy! My head is just a lot thicker that most. I'm certain you will be much smarter than I was!
When we step onto this path of spiritual empowerment & training as Initiates, part of our job is to become the physical arm of the great Hierarchy of Light (HOL) - serving the Will of God and living & fulfilling on our Life's Work, or Destiny. It can be pretty difficult to do this, if you refuse the one method the HOL has to communicate with you! Meditation is where you open the door for the information to come from the HOL to assist you in your life, and provide direction in your service work on the planet. So, pretty darn important!
In December 2015, I made a commitment to myself & to building my relationship with God and with the Hierarchy of Light, when I stepped into a 3 month progressive meditation journey. It is finally time to dig down deeply, figure out why I have such resistance to meditation, and truly build up my meditation muscle!
Let's just say, I get it now! It is a 3-legged stool for a reason! How did I ever think I could be in total service to God, my brothers and sisters, and myself without open communication?
I'm nearing the end of my journey, in the home-stretch. The greatest lesson I have learned so far is that it was finally time for me to grow up. There is a difference between being a spiritual teenager and being a spiritual adult, and it is now time for me to become the adult! :)
It isn't without a few growing pains from time to time, but I am enjoying coming to terms with where I am today - the fantastic, the challenges & the indifferent - as it is also providing me a clear direction with where I want to be & how to get there.
The other thing I have learned so far, is that meditation is truly worth the time! I have learned so much about myself through this process, and I have learned so much more about this sophisticated system of discovery and learning in which we exist. I am building stronger relationships with the Hierarchy of Light and my guides & higher self, and I no longer feel alone!
Beyond the thousands of medical and physiological reasons to meditate, there is something intangible that makes this the MOST IMPORTANT thing to establish in my life!
Everyday I wake up grateful I made this commitment to know myself better, and am proud of my dedication to complete this journey.
